The Volga German Haus is a replica of a traditional limestone home of the Volga German settlers in Ellis County. The structure was built in 1982 by the Volga German Society with help from volunteers here at ECHS. The building blocks were sourced locally from deposits of Post Rock limestone. The interior is furnished with items from the late 1800s that belonged to Volga German families in the area. Several items in the Haus were originally owned by the founding families and were brought by ship and rail from Russia to Ellis County.
